Brand identity framework & naming for family-run Italian restaurant in Toronto.

For years Mrs. Rossa ran a small gelato shop in the heart of Little Italy; now she has finally decided to take the family business to the next level: a full-fledged all-thing Italian restaurant.

Centering the restaurant’s identity around the idea of its humble beginning—a perfect scoop of gelato—the name Paletta (Italian for “scoop”) was chosen. The new identity strikes to encompass all aspects of the Italian culture and add a personal touch with a series of hand drawn icons, which when put together, spell out the word “ITALIA”.
